Clapton CAAC September 2021
Planning Applications for Clapton CAAC meeting for 16 September 2021
2021/2013 William Hill, 99 - 101 Lower Clapton Road, E5 0NP Retrospective change of use from A1 to A3 and installation of new shopfront together, roller shutter and awning. Full Planning Permission (James Clark)
The two shops are now trading. CAAC believes that the point should be made firmly to the applicant that the Council expects proper procedures to be followed rather than being presented with a fait accompli. The frontages retain the 19th century pilasters and stall risers but otherwise the design follows the companies’ usual format of startling colours which are out of keeping with the run of shops.
2021/2326 Flat B, 176 Lower Clapton Road, E5 0QA Construction of a two-storey rear extension and the lower and upper ground floors, together with alterations to the rear fenestration. Full Planning Permission (James Clark)
Clapton CAAC objects to this application. This is a clumsy addition of a bay window thrust out on a brick box and is out of keeping with its neighbour thereby diminishing the integrity of the terrace – albeit on the rear elevation. We suspect that the neighbour at 174 will suffer loss of light from its east-facing bay as the sun moves throughout the day.
2021/0239 52 Lower Clapton Road, E5 0RN Partial change of use from commercial to residential; erection of a ground floor side and rear extension and erection of a rear dormer window to rear roof slope and a roof extension to the outrigger to facilitate the conversion to 3 self-contained units Full Planning Permission (Danny Huber)
Clapton CAAC objects to this application. While we have no objection to the external alterations we believe that the one remaining commercial space will be useless for any serious business. The commercial space is confined to the front room but this is further diminished by the addition of a spiral staircase to the basement and a section for bike storage.
2021/2218 Flat A, 65 Ickburgh Road, E5 8AF New rear ground floor extensions (following demolition of existing extension) Full Planning Permission (Louise Prew)
Clapton CAAC has no objection to this application
2021/2685 65 Durlston Road, E5 8RP Erection of a single storey, ground floor rear and side extensions with sukkah roof. Householder Planning (James Clark)
Clapton CAAC has no objection but notes that the drawing of the proposed first floor includes the side infill – part of the application 2021/2685
2021/2677 65 Durlston Road, E5 8RP Erection of rear roof extensions over main roof slope and the rear outrigger, and insertion of rooflights to front roof slope and rear roof slope of the rear outrigger. Householder Planning (James Clark)
Clapton CAAC has no objection so long as 50% of the original garden is retained.
2021/2101 66 Durlston Road, E5 8RR Erection of single storey ground floor rear rear/infill extension, and first floor rear extension to no.68, erection of new roofs to both rear outriggers roofs to no. 66 & 68 Full Planning Permission (Micheal Garvey)
Clapton CAAC has no objection
2021/2172 62 Durlston Road, E5 8RR Excavation of basement level below existing ground floor footprint and garden area; formation of a rear lightwell Householder Planning (Danny Huber)
Clapton CAAC objects to this application. Loss of more than 50% of garden as amenity space is contrary to policy. While nothing can be done to remedy previous excessive extensions, a line must be drawn given the number of applications in Durlston Road which are effectively eliminating gardens. The area above the subterranean laundry labelled ‘backyard’ could not be used for planting given the lack of depth for soil. At a stated 13 sq. m. it cannot properly serve a house of apparently five bedrooms.
2021/1494 5 Leagrave Street, E5 9QX Variation of condition 2 (drawings) of application 2014/4092 dated 15/08/16 for "Demolition of existing retail (A1) building and erection of part 3, part 4 storey buildings to provide 270sqm of flexible commercial (A1/A2/B1) space, 48 self contained dwellings (8x1, 26x2, 14x3 bed), landscaped amenity space, cycle parking, plant and refuse storage". The proposed changes include internal changes to housing and tenure mix, unit layout and cycle parking; and external changes to brickwork, louvred doors replacing windows, doors/windows/balconies, the solid to void ratio, increased hard landscaping, addition of flues/pipes and access ladder. Removal/Variation of Condition(s) (Nick Bovaird)
Clapton CAAC objects to elements of this application. An increase in hard landscaping should be resisted as should the substitution of louvred doors for windows thereby darkening the interiors of flats.
2021/1749 94 Osbaldeston Road, N16 6NL Ground floor rear extensions at Numbers 94 & 96; and first floor extension at Number 96. Full Planning Permission (Kim Aukett)
Clapton CAAC objects to this application. In rectilinear form and large areas of glass, the proposal is out of keeping with the host building. At a depth of 4 metres from the host building, it is against the 3-metre policy within a conservation area.
2021/2537 58 Kyverdale Road, N16 7AJ Erection of a part one-, part two- storey extension over lower ground and upper ground floors and erection of rear roof dormer extension to facilitate conversion of dwellinghouse to create 4x self-contained residential units with associated bike and bin storage Full Planning Permission (Louise Prew)
Clapton CAAC has no objection to this application
2021/2740 24 Norcott Road, N16 7EL Alterations of window and door openings at lower ground floor level to the rear and installation of rooflights to front and rear roof slopes. Householder Planning (Alix Hauser)
Clapton CAAC has no objection to this application
2021/2440 120 Brooke Road, N16 7RS Erection of a single storey side and rear extension Householder Planning (Raymond Okot)
Clapton CAAC has no objection to this application
2021/2571 8 Jenner Road, N16 7SA The proposal seeks to extend the existing two-storey rear out-rigger in line with the adjacent building at number 10, and to add a single-storey side-return extension at Lower Ground floor level. Householder Planning (Erin Glancy)
Clapton CAAC has no objection to this application
