2019/1521 4-8 Arcola Street E8 2DJ Full refurbishment of the building with a part single-storey roof extension to the front and part two-storey roof extension to the rear to provide additional floorspace (Louise Prew 020 8356 8613)

The proposed roof extension doesn’t need to be as high. The PVs do not need the high surround. It does not present a good line against the sky and would harm the character of the conservation area.

Because of the building's setting, the rear dormer would be visible from the street. Two smaller dormers would be a more sensitive addition to the building and the conservation area.

The drawings and Design and Access Statement are not of sufficient quality for an application within a conservation area, especially when the location is covered by Section 4. Even with a site visit it is not possible to see behind the hoarding to help provide comments.

 

2019/1864 46 Dalston Lane E8 3AH Variation of condition 4 of permission 2017/1640 granted 30/11/2018. Amend ground floor side elevation openings on Laurel Street. Erection of plant enclosure on front elevation of 46 Dalston Lane to match existing plant enclosures at neighbouring properties at 48-76 Dalston Lane. (Richard Kealey 020 8356 6469)

Our comments on 2017/1640 stated that the changes to the side elevation caused damage to the character of the building and the conservation area. The new amendments increase this effect.

2019/1976 41 Kingsland High Street E8 2JS Installation of 1no. internally illuminated fascia advertisement sign above the shop entrance and 1no. internally illuminated projecting advertisement sign on the front wall of the building. (Jeni Cowan 020 8356 1371)

This building is Cooke's Eel and Pie Shop, a statutory listed building within the Dalston Conservation Area. The glazing at the ground floor shop front should be uncovered, there was no permission to cover it up. Similarly, there was no permission to install a shutter of the current design to the shop front.

 

2019/1652 91-93 Kingsland High Street E8 2PB Lawful Development Certificate in relation to lawful implementation of works approved under 2008/2603. (Jeni Cowan 020 8356 1371)

The site is now in the Dalston Conservation Area. It seems the previous planning permission has lapsed as no evidence is given that works have started within 3 years. This means a new application would be needed.

 

2019/1853 17A Ridley Road E8 2NP Discharge of condition 7 of permission 2014/2814 granted 18/11/2014 for the "Erection of a part two, part three building compromising of three dwellings (1x1, 2x2 bed) on top of existing ground floor retail unit." The original permission was granted in November 2014. Is there any eveidence that work has started?
