Planning Applications for Stoke Newington CAAC Monday 13 November 2017
2017/3642 55 Lordship Park N16 5UP Retrospective application for the erection of a bicycle shed on the site. (Elliott Doumanis 020 8356 1804)
We have no objection to the proposals, save that the shed should be painted in part or whole to improve its appearance - particularly of the exposed metalwork.

2017/3775 42 Queen Elizabeths Walk N16 0HH Increase in the height of the roof ridge height to include hip-to-gable extension, extension to rear roof to include rear dormer roof extension, part two-storey, part single rear/side extensions at ground and first floor level, elevational alterations to the rear and front façade to including conversion of front garage door to windows and omission of rear bay feature with replacement windows at first floor level and associated external alterations. (Louise Smith 0208 356 8061)
We have no objection to the proposals.
2017/4188 216 Lordship Road N16 5HQ Extension of first floor flat into a duplex flat via the conversion of the attic space. (Tom Watts 020 8356 1867)
We have no objection to the proposals.
2017/4235 148-154 Stoke Newington Church Street N16 0JU Retrospective application for the demolition of the buildings at 148- 154 Stoke Newington Church Street and the erection of a new 3 storey building incorporating retail units at ground floor and 3 self-contained flats at first and second floors, comprising 1x 2 bed and 2x 1 bed units. The proposed removal of the existing shop fronts and replacement with new shopfronts. (Sally Fraser 020 8356 4791)
We object to the proposal for the following reasons:
- the design is poor and need rethinking
- the overall height of the fascia needs to be drastically reduced by raising the bottom edge of the fascia and devising a design below it that covers the blockwork/beam in a convincing manner, perhaps through false windows.
2017/4081 147 Stoke Newington High Street N16 0NY Change of shopfront and awning. (Tom Watts 020 8356 1867)
We object to the proposal on the following counts:
- the awning is uncharacteristic of the streetscape in that vicinity and tends to enclose the narrow footpath
- both the awning and bi-fold doors are unacceptable as they encourage commercial use of the pavement which is narrow and unsuitable at this point.
2017/3530 150-152 Stoke Newington High Street N16 7JL Installation of new shopfront and ATM (Catherine Slade 020 8356 8056)
We object to the proposal because the design is poor and fails to respect the rhythm of the elevations above it.
