Energy-Saving Homes in a Conservation Area: What are we allowed to do to make our homes sustainable?

The De Beauvoir Association is holding an event on 'Energy Conservation' and how people can approach it / what they can do to 'green' their homes in a conservation area like this.  It is open to all local residents, free of charge. There will be top speakers from English Heritage, Hackney Council and renewable energy companies there to explain how everything from simple things to more complex procedures can be done - and what the true cost savings are in relation to this.

Event Chair: Dave Raval of The Carbon Trust, and Parliamentary Spokesperson for Hackney, Shoreditch and Stoke Newington for the Liberal Democrats.  He has also recently transformed a Victorian house in Hackney into an eco-demonstration home.

English Heritage: Robyn Pender, senior architectural conservator, English Heritage. Robyn will be advising on the simple and more complex things that can be done to 'green' your home, alongside EH's policies.

Hackney Council: Graham Loveland, assistant director, Planning & Regulatory Services.  Graham will cover Hackney's overall policy when it comes to making 'green' changes to your home in a conservation area.

Engensa: Toby Darbyshire, CEO of this renewable energy company, and local resident, will talk about the true cost savings and benefits of 'greening' your home.

This will be followed by a Q&A, facilitated by Dave Raval.
