Shoreditch CAAC September 2022
Planning Applications for Shoreditch CAAC meeting for September 2022
2022/1997 Third Floor, The White Horse, 64 Shoreditch High Street, E1 6JJ Installation of Communication and Digital Hubs, with an integrated display for advertisements Full Planning Permission (Alishba Emanuel)
Strong OBJECTION due to visual clutter, light pollution and detrimental impact on the character and appearance of the CA. We also question the environmental appropriateness of having illuminated signage in terms of energy use and carbon emissions. The only reason that these pavement obstructions are being introduced is for advertising purposes, the other benefits are merely attempts to ameliorate the planning system. They are not genuine public benefits to outweigh the harm done to the streetscape and loss of amenity due to obstruction and visual clutter

Whist this is a retrospective application we object to the colours, materials, signage and presentation used particularly the fake green grass which are against the shopfront guidelines published by the Council and are not in keeping with the character of the building and of the conservation area. The more sober expression as shown in photos of the pre-existing were more in keeping with the traditional shop fronts.
